Why Worry When You Can Pray?

DO NOT WORRY!! How do we obey this? There are three admonitions.

1. LET US FOCUS ON WHO OUR FATHER IS (v. 25-30)
a. He provides our Food (v. 26)
b. He presides over our Future (v. 27)
c. He procures our Fashion (v. 28-30)

2. LET US FOCUS ON WHERE OUR FAITH IS (v. 31-33)
a. Not in The World’s Things (v. 32)
b. But in The Father’s Kingdom (v. 33)

3. LET US FOCUS ON WHO HOLDS OUR FUTURE (v. 34)

Conclusion:
We are loved and cared for by a powerful heavenly Father who promises to provide for us and to protect us. We have been given the faith that we need to trust in Him – to seek His rule over our lives and over His creation; and to hunger after His righteousness in our hearts and express it our lives. Let us always therefore, fix our eyes on Him who is the Author and Finisher of our faith.

The Performance Trap

False Belief: I must meet certain standards to feel good about myself.

Consequences: Fear of failure; perfectionism; drive to succeed; manipulation of others to achieve a success; withdrawal from healthy risks.

God’s Answer: Justification

Justification means that God not only has forgiven me of my sins but also has granted me the righteousness of Christ. Because of justification, I bear Christ’s righteousness and I am therefore fully pleasing to the Father (Romans 5:1)

Here are some questions you need to ask yourself:

Why do we tolerate failure of others but cannot tolerate it in ourselves?

If we cannot tolerate failure, how many of life’s opportunities will we allow to pass us by without our taking the challenge?

How much different would your life be if it were not for the fear of failure?

Something to think about : Perfectionists tend to react defensively to criticism and demand to be in control of most situations. Because they are usually more competent than most, they see nothing wrong with their compulsions. There is nothing wrong with doing things well, the problem is that perfectionists usually base their self-worth on their ability to accomplish a goal.

Quote of the Day

For to be free is not merely to cast off one’s chains, but to live in a way that enhances and respects the freedom of others.

Self-Worth

As humans, we all long to be loved and accepted. Most of the time, we look for this love and acceptance at the wrong places too. We try to put our best efforts to become lovable. But even with our best efforts, we can never find lasting and fulfilling peace if we have to continually prove ourselves to others.  We base our self-worth on how we perform or on how others see us.

But that is not the biblical self- worth. Our search for significance can only be answered by God.  This hunger for self-worth within us is God-given and can only be satisfied by Him. Our value is not dependent on our ability to earn the acceptance of people but rather, its true source is the love and acceptance of God.

Satan’s lie:

Self-worth= performance +other’s opinions.

On Smoking

What do you get when you smoke? I just don’t get it.

I have been raised in a non-smoking family and for that, I am truly grateful. But my brother smokes.. and I just don’t understand why? I don’t judge him but I want to understand where he is coming from. He is free to do what he wants but I think it does not do any good for his body.
